About Little Feat Tickets

Little Feat formed in 1969 when singer-guitarist Lowell George and keyboardist Bill Payne joined forces in Los Angeles, blending a love of rock, blues, country, funk, and New Orleans–style rhythms into something completely their own. George had just left Frank Zappa’s Mothers of Invention, and Payne was an in-demand young session player—together, they built a sound that was tight, clever, and rhythmically adventurous. The band’s early lineup also included Richie Hayward on drums and Roy Estrada on bass, setting the stage for a group that would become one of the most unique and musically respected acts of the ’70s.

Their early albums earned critical acclaim, but it was their 1973–1974 era—Dixie Chicken, Feats Don’t Fail Me Now, and Sailin’ Shoes—that cemented Little Feat as cult favorites. “Dixie Chicken,” with its slinky groove and swampy flair, became their signature song, and the band’s musicianship gained them a reputation among other artists as “musicians’ musicians.” They were the kind of band other bands worshipped: fiercely creative, wickedly skilled, and fearless in how they fused genres. Their live performances—especially captured in the beloved album Waiting for Columbus—showed just how electric and improvisational their sound could be.

Though the band faced major challenges, including the tragic loss of Lowell George in 1979, Little Feat endured and reinvented themselves. They reunited in the late ’80s with new members, released fresh albums, and continued touring with the same sense of groove-heavy spontaneity that defined them from the beginning. Decades later, Little Feat remains a beloved American rock institution—famous for their musical chops, fusion of styles, and a legacy that has influenced generations of artists across rock, jam-band, and Americana circles.
