Who is Chet Faker?

Chet Faker is the alias of Nick Murphy, an Australian singer, songwriter and producer from Melbourne. He adopted the name as a playful reference to jazz trumpeter Chet Baker and first gained major attention with a soulful cover of Blackstreet’s “No Diggity”, followed by his early EP Thinking in Textures.

His music blends electronic and soul influences, marrying minimal beats, lush production and warm vocals with introspective lyricism. Over time he’s incorporated more organic instrumentation and grown more experimental while retaining his core blend of groove and atmosphere.
